Accessing Multiple Google Accounts

A very quick post for those people who are trying to access multiple gmail, or google accounts – at the same time!

It has always annoyed me how often I have to log off, and log on to Google Accounts, especially as in my day job we are handling email, websites, google feedburner, google apps, webmaster tools, analytics, and ‘plus’ a long list.

A quick tot up showed at least 6o google accounts accessed in the recent past to help customers get set up.

My hint and tip

Lastpass

An incredible time saver. This saves and encrypts passwords and then makes them available across several machines, automatically! One password to rule them all.

If you do resort to logging on and off several times and hour, then this will change your life.

And, as a bonus, if you want to share password access with other people, but don’t want to disclose the actual password, this software makes it possible. The main benefit is that you can revoke it of course.

If you want multiple concurrent access

I have Chrome open for my work email, and can use different access details for the customer actions on Firefox.

It turns out that actually, what I really wanted was to not have to log in and out just to see if I had email. Not withstanding whether I should do this for inbox zero purposes or not.

Incognito

If you want multiple windows with multiple google logins, try Chrome incognito. Click the spanner on the right, and ‘open new incognito window’. It won’t work with browser extensions, which it switches off to prevent ‘leakage’ of personal data. No great hardship when accessing email and so forth.

These things have made life much easier for us – to the point where we want to share.

Even my beloved H.I. likes Chrome for email – so it must be good.

Criticism

Just remember this when you’re doing something other people don’t agree with.

Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain and most fools do. ~Benjamin Franklin

Interuptitis should be a real word

The four hour work week. I’m not sure about that, but Tim Ferris is right about being interrupted. It is rarely more important than the work you are already doing.

Amen.

SEOMoz story – an inspiration

I read this SEO success story today.

SEOmoz turned from SEO consultants into leaders of their own trade community.

Worth remembering in the bad times!

Football ruins World Cup – Fifa should admit mistake

The World Cup has been ruined by using this football. Fifa should bite the bullet and replace it for the knockout rounds. keepers can’t save, but strikers can’t score anything but tap ins.

The World Cup goals were better in years gone by – shame.

Patience and Passion

I agree with this guy.

He talks quickly, it’s easy to miss stuff. My take aways are underneath

  • This is more about life than social media
  • There is no reason to do stuff you hate
  • Do whatever your passion is – but DOING it takes hard work
When you are 1% not happy, then stop doing it
  • He promises you can monetise anything on the web – there are people out there who will buy your shit. Do what is important to you
  • Hustling is the most important word ever – you need to work SO hard – and make some money on the way.
  • People can see that he cares – the most important thing is to care about other people. Giving a shit about people is way better than listening to them. Care about everything – that starts with yourself.
  • The minute you don’t believe in what you’re doing, stop, get out, people won’t believe in you
  • The game is changing – the media isn’t in charge of brand equity any more. Content is valuable, build brand equity in yourself and your company. It’s easier than ever it used to be, but believe in what you are doing because if you love it – and you love people – then it will work. If you believe long enough and you don’t give up.
  • The only way to succeed is transparency – use all the tools
  • “Stop watching fucking Lost”. Work, that’s how you get it
